Black Coffee Deep House Artist: Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, better known as Black Coffee, is a South African DJ, record producer, and songwriter. He was born in Durban, South Africa, on March 11, 1976, into a musical family. Black Coffee was exposed to a wide range of musical styles at a young age, including gospel, jazz, and funk.

Black Coffee’s career began in the early 2000s, when he began performing as a DJ at South African clubs and festivals. He rapidly became well-known on the scene and began releasing his own music. He published his debut album “Black Coffee” in 2005, which contained a blend of deep house, soulful house, and afro-jazz.

Music

In the years following his debut record, Black Coffee’s career has continued to skyrocket. He has since published a number of more albums, including “Home Brewed” (2008), “Africa Rising” (2010), and “Subconsciously” (2019). He has also worked with a variety of different musicians, both locally and internationally. “Superman” with Bucie, “Turn Me On” with Usher, and “Drive” with David Guetta are among his most prominent collaborations.

Throughout his career, Black Coffee has also had a number of memorable performances and residencies. He sang at the opening ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016. He has also worked as a resident DJ at Ibiza’s famed H Ibiza nightclub.
